Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchliffe, rose to fame on Instagram several years ago after she started to share cleaning tips and tricks online. The social media influencer now has millions of followers and her fans often share their own finds on dedicated Facebook groups.

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one woman asked for some advice when it came to cleaning her Venetian blinds.

Cathy Oates wrote: “I have Venetian blinds which are silver on one side and black on the other.

“Being in a bedroom they seem to attract dust. They never look bright and clean. Would appreciate any cleaning advice.”

Grease, dust, pet hair and particles floating in the air can combine to make blinds dusty as it settles on them.

While this can be a time consuming task, cleaning blinds often is important, especially if someone in the home suffers with allergies.

Group members rushed to the comments to share their top tips for keeping Venetian blinds looking clean and dust-free.

Kelly Summerlin commented: “I close them and wipe them over with a damp cloth.”

Kahlee Gallagher added: “Anything that’s black will always attract dust, so a daily dust is needed.”

Other Mrs Hinch fans recommended using a tumble dryer sheet to clean the blinds.

Frances Brooks said: “A tumble dryer sheet will attract the dust.”

Michelle Cairns commented: “I dampen tumble dryer sheets and wrap them around my first and second finger and then wipe.”

Using tumble dryer sheets on blinds can help to reduce static, meaning the dust will be attracted to the sheet.

Mrs Hinch has shared this hack with fans in the past, using Zoflora after to disinfect the area.

Alison Cable wrote: “Tumble dryer sheets have been game-changing, literally can cost 50p, takes a minute.”

Maria Taylor commented: “If you have dryer sheets use them although don’t go out your way to buy some, a baby wipe works well too, although you do get some dust left behind.”

Other group members recommended using socks as well as using soapy water to help remove any germs, while others said to clean them in the bath.

Judy Morton explained: “Just soak them in the rub and rinse off, dust should all come off.”

Janet Morton said: “If you can take them down fully closed, lay them in the bath with warm water and a bit of washing up liquid.

“Open them slightly and dunk up and down, you will see the muck coming off, then rinse with warm water.

“Then I would hang them over a line outside until dry.”
