The Village of Richwood Council member Reddy Brown, his wife Michelle, and North Union High School freshman Traven Reber will spend next week in Bowling Green, Kentucky, helping the Baptists on Mission care for victims of the recent tornadoes. “My team has one truck and one box trailer,” Brown wrote in a Facebook post. “We’re taking chainsaws and a quad to help clean.” According to the Baptists on Mission website, the North Carolina Disaster Relief will deploy a small feeding team, a laundry unit, recovery unit, generator and chainsaw teams for disaster recovery efforts out of Hillvue Heights Baptist Church in Bowling Green. Brown’s small group will be staying at the Hillvue Heights Baptist Church Monday through Friday. Brown said he and Reber, who is a Troop 440 Boy Scout, will help the chainsaw team, while Michelle Brown assists with meal preparation for crews. Their main mission is to provide winter coats for children who have lost their personal belongings and will return to school in January. Brown invites the public to donate non-perishable, dry food, clothes and winter coats for those who have been impacted by the natural disaster. He asked that community members do not donate canned goods because of weight restrictions in his truck. “You can bring those items, boxed or bagged, to 21 Maple St. (in Richwood) from Friday noon until Sunday noon, when we will pack it all up,” Brown wrote on Facebook. The donations and monetary contributions to buy food will be accepted by the Cornerview Community Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
